Pickled Spiced Apples

 

Pickled Spiced Apples

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Servings: 16 oz jar

Ingredients:

  • 1-2 apples, cores removed and thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¼ cup white wine vinegar
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 2-3 cardamom pods, lightly crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 3-4 allspice berries

Directions:

  1. In a small saucepan, add the vinegars, maple syrup, salt, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, allspice berries, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, then cut the heat and allow to cool slightly
  2. To a jar, add the sliced apples. Pour in the warm brining liquid and make sure all the apples are submerged. Fit loosely with a lid and allow to come to room temperature, then place in the fridge.
  3. Before consuming, allow the apples to quick-pickle for at least 20-30 minutes. Keep in the fridge for up to 1 month.
